** Free Pattern – Crochet Mini Me**

So the technology for cloning isnt quite into the public domain yet… what are you waiting for?  crochet yourself, add some little crochet’d brains and you’re good to be in 2 places at once!

Make your very own crochet mini me!

To coincide with the Who Am I? exhibition at The Science Museum  here is a pattern to crochet yourself!

I used DK weight yarn and a size G (4mm) hook, but feel free to change either of these to suit your stash or taste.  Also, this is just a base pattern for you to customise to create the best image of yourself – please add or change the pattern to your hearts desire.  Also, please note that all instructions are in U.S terms.  Id love you see your mini me’s if you use this pattern – drop me a line at thefastenerknits *at* gmail .com

Pattern notes:

SC = single crochet.

St = stitch.

SC2 = throughout this pattern Single Crochet 2 into the next Stitch.

Row 6:             (SC X 3, Inv Dec) X 2 (8 Sts)

Row 7:                        (SC X 2, Inv Dec) X 2 (6 Sts)

Stuff and stitch opening closed.  I made my ears and nose by stitching a French knot stitch (2 for each) – but you could also use felt or beads.  For help on French knots and embroidery stitches there are lots of videos on youtube.

Row 7:            Going back towards the hand SC the 2nd chain from the hook and SC into each chain (7 in total) towards the hand.  Then SC into a St from the hand.   (8 in row).

Row 8:            SC into another St from the hand.  SC into the row again, going into the top of the 2 stitches you have already made in the row – so bringing the stitches to form a sort of 3d triangle.  (SC 8 times).

Row 9:             Cast off.

N.B. You could make the arms in a circle of 3 Sts, but I found it really fiddly, so I  made mine in a row!

Legs (Make 2):

Row 1:                        Make 4 in a ring/magic loop

Row 2-6:            SC into each St.

Change to  boot colour or continue in flesh colour until you reach the point where you want to start your shoes.

Row 3-5:            SC into each St.

Row 6:             SC, Chain 4.

Row 7:                        SC into the 2nd St from the hook.  SC X 2 going towards the leg.

(3 in row).

Row 8:             SC into each St on leg X 3, SC into 4 Sts on foot, miss the next St, and Slip St into the following St on the end of the foot.  SC into 3 Sts on the leg.  Inv Dec heel 2 Sts.

Row 9:            Inv Dec into the Sts under the foot, using the St along each side of the foot.  Slip St into the last St at the end of the foot.

Skirt:

Row 1:                        Chain 12.  Slip St into the 1st St to make a ring.  (11 Sts).

Row 2:             SC into each St.

Row 3:                        (SC X 2, SC2) X 3, SC X 2 (14 Sts).

Row 4:             SC into each St.

Row 5:             (SC X 3, SC2) X 3, SC X 2 (17 Sts).

Row 6+7:            SC into each St.

Row 8:                        SC 3into each St, Slip St into the 1st St.

Sleeves (Make 2):

Row 1:             Chain 5, slip St into 1st chain to make a ring (5 Sts).

Row 2:             SC into each St.

Row 3:            2 X ½ double crochet, SC X 3, Slip Stitch to finish.

Weave in all the ends.

Sew the arms and legs and head to the body.  Sew the skirt and the sleeves onto the body to create the dress.  I then made a belt by knotting yarn and wrapping around the body, but you of course can choose how to embellish the rest of your mini me.  Use beads to create eyes, wire for glasses, yarn or felt for hair, beads for jewellery and you can also weave/poke wire into the legs and body to help your mini me stand up.
